There is a number of nations that are not happy with the way the delegate is decided. What i propose , before it's even decided on the format of an election process , is to ascertain whether the region would like an election process other than the one built into the game.
I've set up this poll with this in mind. You are either happy with inbuilt process for determining the delegate , or you would rather something else , with the dynamics of that process to be determined at a latter date. What is needed though is to determine how the poll winner is to be decided. Having the winner decided by a single vote is fine by me , but i think that single vote must be part of at least 51% of the regional number of UN nations , so at current measure , 13 out of the 22 UN nations (W&T and S&V included) would need to vote in favour of a change in the current process. I don't believe non-UN nations have the right to vote on this issue , though i do understand the outcome does effect the region as a whole and would welcome discussion on the topic.
Permit me to give my opinion on the topic. I'm against elections with the gaming process. I find them to be unnecessarily bureaucratic , and in my opinion leans towards socialism and not anarchism. I believe the process currently is the most workable form of direct democracy within the game. All players are free to endorse whom they wish , and if they are not happy with the current delegate to remove that endorsement.
I was a UN delegate in the region i was in previous to this one , where the size was comparable , and i saw first hand that being an incumbent did gain endorsements when new nations join. But it doesn't mean those new nations abstain from placing additional endorsements on other nations. Also , more times than not , the delegate is the nation that invites other nations to join that region instantly gaining a relationship with that nation that nobody else in the region has , so as a token of solidarity the incoming nation endorses the delegate.
If you want to be popularly elected , recruit some nations to your cause.
